Tomi Simatupang

Tomi Simatupang was born in 1981 in Yogyakarta, Central Java. After having spent his childhood in Yogyakarta and Jakarta, in 1991 he followed his mother to Germany. He got his early musical education in Detmold with specialization in playing drums and guitar. In 1998, he subsequently moved to The Hague, the Netherland, for his higher education. He began his career as a musician in 2001; since then, he has been involved in various roles in musical productions, such as musician, composer and vocalist in several rock-pop bands like Francie, Crazy for Jane, and Susie Asado. He released three albums, Blame It On Your Monkey (2005), Sound Home Theme (2007) and Purgatory On A Twig" (2010). In 2007, he further cooperated in the movie soundtrack for the documentary film by Uli Schueppel. Berlin Song, which was screened at the 57th Berlin International Film Festival. In 2008-2009, he took part in Yogyakarta in the production Bilangan Fu (readings with music), a collaboration project with:Teater Garasi, Risky Summersbee, The Honeythief and Martin Jankowski. He is currently collaborating with Susie Asado in the realization of I Am A Skyscraper as well as As A Lullaby, both due to appear in 2011. His new album Agape is scheduled to be released in 2012 with Butterama Label.
